Course Outline:

What does it all mean? Do I have to? What if _________ happens?

We know that we have a legal responsibility to provide safe and effective dental hygiene services, to every client, every day. We know that there are standards, regulations, bylaws ethics and guidelines that have been developed to protect our clients and ourselves. Problems arise when we don’t know what we don’t know. We need to narrow that gap.

Confidentiality, consent, recordkeeping, conflict of interest, boundaries, mandatory reporting, self-regulation, etc. More important than just reviewing these concepts, is learning how to apply that knowledge in everyday practice.

This course provides further preparation for the CDHO Jurisprudence exam and additional CE hours for a quality assurance goal built around this topic.

Learning Outcomes:

At the end of the course, the attendee will:

understand the difference between law and jurisprudence.
have reviewed the process of critical thinking.
have learned to apply new knowledge to practical situations.
be better prepared to successfully complete the CDHO Jurisprudence Education Module examination
be familiar with the steps involved in solving an ethical dilemma

- increasing my knowledge of jurisprudence as it relates to dental hygiene in Ontario and completing the CDHO Jurisprudence Educational Module and examination.
