Course Description:

Join us for a full day of comprehensive training for your hygiene department including hands-on training to meet your provincial requirements, scripting for your team to introduce laser hygiene technology to your patients, and the empowerment needed to successfully integrate effective laser technology into your practice.

As the profession of dental hygiene evolves, so does the technology that we employ. Discover how the assistance of a specific laser can provide the ultimate in client care and comfort, treatment outcome and become the “instrument of choice” to complement debridement. An overview of ‘physics 101’ will be covered to assist in determining the most efficacious laser selection for various treatments.

The integration of the laser into non-surgical periodontal therapy and specifically laser bacterial reduction will be supported by compelling evidence. An introduction to the latest, innovative and affordable soft-tissue diode lasers for immediate integration into dental hygiene practice will be highlighted. Learning Outcomes:

Upon completion of the course the participant will:

Describe the principles of laser physics and tissue interaction
Demonstrate safe diode laser operation, including appropriate settings and clinical safety protocols.
Integrate diode laser therapy into the dental hygiene appointment in accordance with current clinical guidelines.
Review the regulatory requirements governing diode laser use within the dental hygienist's scope of practice.
Apply appropriate coding and documentation related to diode laser procedures performed by dental hygienists.
Communicate the purpose, benefits, and common patient questions related to diode laser therapy with confidence.
Identify implementation strategies and resources to support the successful integration of diode laser therapy into clinical practice.
